What to Expect From Your First Naturopathic Consultation

If you’ve never seen a naturopath before, it’s normal to feel a bit unsure about what actually happens in the room. Here’s a straightforward rundown of what to expect when you book in with Fiona at our in-store clinic.

It starts with a proper conversation

Your first appointment usually runs longer than a typical doctor’s visit. Fiona will ask about your health history, current symptoms, diet, sleep, stress levels and lifestyle, because naturopathy looks at the whole picture rather than just one symptom in isolation.

Bring what you already know

If you’re taking any medications, supplements, or have recent test results from your GP, bring them along. It helps Fiona understand the full context and avoid suggesting anything that might clash with what you’re already doing.

Expect practical, personalised suggestions

Depending on what comes up, a consultation might lead to dietary changes, a herbal formulation made up specifically for you, or a referral back to your GP if something needs medical attention. Naturopathy works alongside conventional medicine, not instead of it.

Follow-ups matter

One appointment rarely tells the whole story. Fiona often suggests a follow-up a few weeks later to see how you’re tracking and adjust the plan if needed.

Booking in

The clinic runs Monday and Tuesday, 9am to 6pm, in a private room at the back of the store. Appointments are essential, you can arrange one by calling Fiona directly on (021) 222 6048.
